Tips from the pro
What is the ideal mowing height?
The ideal mowing height various during the season. In the spring, grass should be mowed to about 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) high, while during the summer during warmer periods, a height of 3 inches (8 cm) is preferable. During heat waves and drought, it is recommended that you refrain from mowing your lawn, because it is already undergoing stress and its growth has slowed down temporarily.
In the fall, you can once again mow it to a height of 2 inches (5 cm) and the very last time you mow it should be mowed to about 1 1/2 inches (4 cm). It is important not to cut your lawn any shorter than that, because it will become vulnerable to insects, undesirable plants, certain diseases, drought and frost. Longer mowing lengths foster deep root development and increase the effectiveness of lawn care treatments.
