Causes

The dandelion spreads mainly through its feathery, air-light seeds, which are easily carried by the wind. It can also reproduce via its roots: when cut or disturbed, they generate new shoots. This hardy plant thrives in various soil types, often in degraded or poorly maintained areas. Its sprawling foliage and deep roots allow it to outcompete other plants, explaining its frequent presence in lawns and uncultivated land.

Prevention

  1. Regularly aerate the soil to prevent compaction.
  2. Fertilize the lawn to improve its density.
  3. Maintain an optimal mowing height (6-8 cm).

Control

Herbicide

Apply a non-selective herbicide to address severe infestations.

Manual Removal

Manually remove the plants by taking out the rhizomes.

Dandelion plants can be hand-pulled with care to remove the entire root. Various tools are available in garden centers and hardware stores to facilitate efficient and quick manual removal.
